AVT Sutherland was born in Ghana, raised in the American Midwest, educated in the South, and has lived in four different states. Now her family is spread across the USA and northern Europe. She feels at home in many places and loves walking in cities and in forests. Once a precocious author, she has returned to fiction writing after careers in journalism and law. Her goal is to learn something every day.
It’s Hard To Be Four When You’re Two grew out of watching her two younger children find ways to chase after older siblings. Whether it was climbing playsets, writing letters, or sitting still, their eyes were on trying to mature faster. Even adults try to emulate those who have mastered skills we admire.
It’s Hard to Be Four When You’re Two

Through rhyme and art, the reader sees a loving family although Ava is not perfect and Henry may require more patience while he is two. There is hope for each of us to catch up to those we admire.
